I just don’t understand the ongoing mass hysteria by msm about Biden. He was old in 2019! Remember the cast that September? He wasn’t my first choice back then.

But!

Joe Biden successfully defeated trump, held off relentless attacks, and had the most productive presidential term in my lifetime. And I am a granny.

He has a Vice-President. What is the problem?

Well, thanks for sharing 💙

100% Mary Lynch. I must always remind myself that the loss of accurate fair media coverage is because of the Billionares. This whole threat to our democracy is sourced from them. When we complain about Reporters failing us, we really should look higher up. The money and greed of the Billionares is fueling the crisis in media purposefully. People we once trusted to be accurate are either threatened or bought.

Threatened or Bought.

Powerful forces.

Thank you.

Welp, I better snap out of my tears.

Guess ole granny has to canvas for Joe and Kamala up in NE Pennsylvania. They sent me to Old Forge in 2020 (total maga) because I look like a Republican. 😆

“Get up again! Amen!”

Yes, and he also said that he was a "transitional candidate" in 2020, perhaps even then conscious of his age...he intimated that he'll be a "one-term president", then hand it over to a new generation...until he didn't.

Well, Joe, now upwards of 70% of DEMOCRATS say you're too , and would prefer somebody else, having given NO choice in the primaries other than Dean Phillips (!), ffs.

Let's hope that at long last, Biden can set aside his egotism and his version of "Only I can fix it" , yield to the arguments of 22 Dem Reps - including Nancy Pelosi - Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, and now Barack Obama, and step down gracefully, with a hearty endorsement of VP Harris.

Enough already.

You have a number of false statements in here. He never said he would be a one-term president. and your other statements are false. I have seen no Democrat make that kind of definitive statement even from anonymous sources.

I will not be surprised if Joe hands off to Kamala early in his second term. No better way to teach a sexist and racist nation that a black woman CAN do the job.

Very good idea...but why wait? Resign the office in a few days, VP Harris sworn in, and she campaigns as the President...dead cert for re-election.

Thank you. In 2010 a documentary titled “Waiting for Superman” came out about the American educational system. Today’s political situation seems similar. Too many people are standing around “waiting for Superman” and ‘newsflash’ he isn’t coming. We need to solve this one ourselves. The best antidote for anxiety is action…so LETS GO!

Be careful using that “documentary” to make a point. It was propaganda for the privatization industry in education.

Thanks. I wasn’t really making a point WITH the documentary as much as borrowing an expression…but point taken.

Thank you for this! I’m a huge fan and listened to your pod all through 2016-2020.

I too have been utterly freaking out at what I have seen going on with CNN and MSNBC. On top of that, the feckless nonstop campaign against Biden. Katy Tur. Lester Holt. The New York Times…

It feels like an all out assault and influence campaign to shove Trump down our throats. It’s like living in the fucking Twilight Zone. Like he’s inevitable. You must submit. Like no, fuck that!

I refuse to hand over our country to these monsters. They’re depraved, corrupt, and greedy. They straight out lie to our faces like we’re too stupid to see exactly what they’re doing.

It’s just gross. I feel violated, you know? People just want to live their lives in peace. Have a decent job. A living wage. Marry who we want. Have decent schools. Health insurance. A clean planet.

It feels like they want to take away every single thing that is good and keep us under their boot. I mean, how much money do these people need? They already have billions of dollars.

It’s just gross. Sometimes I feel like humans in general are beyond saving. Morose, I know.

One ray of hope though! I decided to get MSNBC one last chance and watched their coverage after the convention. It was Maddow, Steele, Joy, Lawrence and a couple others.

They actually called out all of the bullshit. I was so happy to finalize hear them say all of the things that were wrong with what I’ve seen the past 2 days.

They haven’t completely earned back my trust and I remain wary, but it is a start. It restored some of my faith and gave me hope that all may not be lost. Watch it if you can. :-)

Those in media (you mention above) all need to BE LOUDER and say it all the time. Every democrat needs to hear it (especially those in our house and senate that are afraid and not supporting our President. Why don't they talk about 34 felony convictions, 2 times adjudicated rapist, twice impeached criminal that is the nominee on the lying cheating side of the aisle? SCREAM IT LOUDLY every single day. UNITE and vote Biden/Harris, look how far we've come with them, let's give the house and senate to get their work done. DEMOCRACY!!!

🎯 Even broader, I suspect, not just unions, but Labor in general. Workers can now get healthcare without employment. Worker pressure for remote jobs and work/life balance, increased minimum wages. Yea, business considers Biden an existential threat and the MSM owners are all in, even at the loss of viewers. Anything else just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

France was lucky that the media hysteria only lasted 4 weeks, not 4 months!

Yes, from me too. I must admit that I've been more than a little baffled by how even the Democrats have bought into the whole media ‘Biden is too old’ thing. For a start, Trump is older than Biden was in 2019, but no one's mentioned his age once, despite the fact that he's obviously demented. Trump is so much worse in every respect: morally, cognitively, intelligence, physically, mentally, honesty, integrity, public service. Trump is a criminal, a rapist, a misogynist, a racist, a cheat, a failure, a loser and just thoroughly reprehensible in every respect but the important issue is Biden's age?

Yes, perhaps Biden's frail, though his schedule would have exhausted me in my thirties. He's prone to making gaffes but he always has been. And he's been a remarkably effective president. Ideally, yes, is like someone younger and I would absolutely love to see a woman of colour as president. That would be a real watershed but Kamala Harris is not very popular. I think Trump is scared of Biden, he'd much rather run against Kamala. I'm also afraid that many never Trump Republicans won't vote for a black woman. I sincerely hope I'm wrong but I'm afraid that, as all too often, the Democrats are too busy squabbling amongst themselves instead of uniting against the real danger.

Yes, the debate was bad, although it got considerably better after the first ten minutes and if you read a transcript it actually comes across much better. The substance rather than the impression. I would also remind you that Obama had a pretty terrible first debate and Hillary Clinton had a really good one, yet Obama won and Hillary lost.

Sorry, I forgot competence in the list of qualities Trump is so much worse than Biden in.

The Democrats’ call for replacing Biden looks so bad for them. Did they not know Biden would be 85 by the end of his 2 terms when they nominated him in 2020? Did they nominate someone without the intention of going for 2 turns, giving up the incumbent advantage? Do they not see that by creating chaos and division within the party we are helping Trump? Who do they want to bring in (I don’t see mention of Harris)? I hear the words Shapiro, who, as a Pennsylvanian, looks to me like a marketing prima donna. In terms of narcissism, not that different from Trump. There’s also a lot going on with the school laws in PA that there are tons of democratic moms pissed off at the dems at the state level. I don’t know much about Newson other than the fact that he’s setting himself up to run for preside in the future. He has some baggage as well so I’m not sure what the full picture of him running would look like. Don’t know much about Whitmer either, but she is a woman and if we want to bring in independents we will loose the misogynists, which, speaking as a woman, I feel we need their vote. I would love to see Kamala Harris run for president with Pete Buttigieg as vice, but let us be honest, would this country’s collective racism allow them to have a chance. In my mind, Biden is still the best we have and if he wants to step down a couple of years in, that would let Harris take on the reins officially and she could run in 28 as an incumbent with the intention of going for a two term totaling a max of 10 year in office. Of all the institutions that are failing us, the democrats turning their back on Biden is the most painful for me to watch.

I agree with your last sentence wholeheartedly. Their so-called statements about Joe needing to step down to save the party is utter BS. My question is why? Why are they trying to undermine him and Kamala, also? Is it because he is actually being held up like a living mannequin or is it ageism? Michael Moore, who I rarely agree with, made an interesting comment recently. He said that Biden was going through “elder abuse”. He’s right.

I have long believed Joe knows the best way to get a female President in sexist America is to win now and pass it to her early in his second term. Few people have his wisdom and understanding of how to play to win.

The decision has already been made. We’re sticking with Biden/Harris. And this older white guy is trilled with that team. So every time there is a story or a post about whether Biden should step down, we should push back and say, stop talking about our the past. Let’s talk about Biden’s accomplishments or why Trump has such a light campaign schedule; is he too tired?

Thank You, AG. I feel the same and currently can’t sleep. I don’t think I’ve seen so much BLATANT disinformation and outright lying in my life that I’ve been reading since the debate. The campaign against Biden from within the Democratic Party really got steam a month ago, when Joe delayed delivery of 2000 lb bombs to Netenyahu.

Netenyahu wants to obliterate Gaza.

It is not difficult to see who these ‘wealthy donors’ are who are pushing for Biden to drop out. Aipac and a number of rich friends of Netenyahu.

They are not afraid Biden will lose.

They are afraid he will win.

Joe supports the 2 State Solution. Netenyahu opposes it. The Knesset have just passed a bill opposing it.

This is not difficult to understand.

Like a lot of you commenting on this post, I am also losing sleep over the current status of this race. Every story about some high level dem wanting Joe to drop out is a gut punch (looking at you Adam Schiff) what is their plan exactly??? If Joe drops out and you don’t elevate Kamala, you lose Black women - the backbone of the party. Joe and Kamala have an EXCELLENT record. Instead of fantasy scenarios every dem should be focused on that.

I supported Katie Porter. So damned angry at Schiff. He’s worried about his own election. After calling for Joe to step aside, he should be. He’s losing support now and helping Garvey - a washed up baseball player whose wife says he’s lousy in the sack! Stupid panic move, Schiff.

Well said! The Corporate Media is complicit in sabotaging Biden (and Democracy) since day one of his presidency! Greedy myopic corporate scum do not want to pay their fair share of taxes and hate unions - both of which Biden has made a priority. The hysteria in the Democratic party is surreal based on one bad debate? Mark Twain once smartly said - "Polls are only good for one thing - fishing" Bottom line is Biden is an excellent president - for all those with short attention spans - here are some of his amazing accomplishments and in a polarized nation no less!

Passed the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package to increase investment in the national network of bridges and roads, airports, public transport and national broadband internet, as well as waterways and energy systems.

Helped get more than 500 million life-saving COVID-19 vaccinations in the arms of Americans through the American Rescue Plan.

Stopped a 30-year streak of federal inaction on gun violence by signing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act that created enhanced background checks, closed the “boyfriend” loophole and provided funds for youth mental health.

Made a $369 billion investment in climate change, the largest in American history, through the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Ended the longest war in American history by pulling the troops out of Afghanistan.

Provided $10,000 to $20,000 in college debt relief to Americans with loans who make under $125,000 a year.

Cut child poverty in half through the American Rescue Plan.

Capped prescription drug prices at $2,000 per year for seniors on Medicare through the Inflation Reduction Act.

Passed the COVID-19 relief deal that provided payments of up to $1,400 to many struggling U.S. citizens while supporting renters and increasing unemployment benefits.

Achieved historically low unemployment rates after the pandemic caused them to skyrocket.

Imposed a 15% minimum corporate tax on some of the largest corporations in the country, ensuring that they pay their fair share, as part of the historic Inflation Reduction Act.

Recommitted America to the global fight against climate change by rejoining the Paris Agreement.

Strengthened the NATO alliance in support of Ukraine after the Russian invasion by endorsing the inclusion of world military powers Sweden and Finland.

Authorized the assassination of the Al Qaeda terrorist Ayman al-Zawahiri, who became head of the organization after the death of Osama bin Laden.

Gave Medicare the power to negotiate prescription drug prices through the Inflation Reduction Act while also reducing government health spending.

Held Vladimir Putin accountable for his invasion of Ukraine by imposing stiff economic sanctions.

Boosted the budget of the Internal Revenue Service by nearly $80 billion to reduce tax evasion and increase revenue.

Created more jobs in one year (6.6 million) than any other president in U.S. history.

Reduced healthcare premiums under the Affordable Care Act by $800 a year as part of the American Rescue Plan.

Signed the PACT Act to address service members’ exposure to burn pits and other toxins.

Signed the CHIPS and Science Act to strengthen American manufacturing and innovation.

Reauthorized the Violence Against Women Act through 2027.

Halted all federal executions after the previous administration reinstated them after a 17-year freeze.

That's a record any president would be justifiably proud of. A survey by the American Historical Organisation of impartial historians and presidential experts ranked Biden 14ᵗʰ (which makes me wonder what the 13 higher ranked achieved?) and Trump 46ᵗʰ (i.e. worst).
