Thanks, AG. Don’t know what we would do without you.

Absolutely! I’m blown away by the work required to make this easy for all of us to understand! And to get it all completed in such a short period of time? Gobsmacked here!

This is a great move by Jack Smith to revive a “dead” case against Trump. Donald was feeling safer after ducking most of the legal consequences of his crimes against democracy. But this will yield some new sources of pressure on him and on his flailing campaign.

Noting says “Weird” to me like violating the US Constitution, and being convicted of 34 felonies for business fraud, while running for re-election to the Presidency.

Time to wear this Jack Smith shirt again 🤣👇

Here's a TLDR summary of AG's observations - thank you AG for your steadfast work :)

Key differences in the superseding indictment include:

1. Clarifications that Trump was acting as a candidate for re-election, not in his official capacity as President, which could affect claims of presidential immunity.

2. Emphasis on the false nature of Trump's claims about election fraud and his knowledge of their falsity.

3. Removal of certain co-conspirators and details that may be covered by immunity or not essential to the charges.

4. Inclusion of specific actions taken by Trump and his associates to subvert the election results, including attempts to pressure Vice President Mike Pence and the organization of fraudulent slates of electors.

5. Detailed accounts of Trump's alleged attempts to use the Department of Justice to lend credibility to false claims of election fraud.

6. Allegations that Trump exploited the violence and chaos at the Capitol on January 6 to further obstruct the certification of the election results.

7. Adjustments to the language to align with recent Supreme Court rulings on immunity and the narrowing of the obstruction law.

The analysis suggests that the changes were made to strengthen the indictment by focusing on actions that are not protected by presidential immunity and by providing clear evidence of Trump's intent and knowledge of the falsity of his claims.

I've read about this indictment in a couple of places but none were as thorough or clear. Thank you 😊

This is incredible work! Thanks so much for helping us understand all this. As an editor myself, I think Jack Smith did a superb job streamlining and tightening this case in light of the SCOTUS BS ruling.

This is a much stronger case because trump can’t hide behind his office. He is buck naked showing his amorality and contempt for our laws and Constitution.

COUNT THREE (Obstruction of, and Attempt to Obstruct, an Official Proceeding—18 U.S.C. §§ 1512(c)(2), 2)

Wasn't that one of the Jan6 charges challenged by Joseph Fischer that SCOTUS threw out? There was speculation that SC Smith would either drop that particular charge against tRump pursuant to *Fischer*, or rework it, but chuffed to see it remains in the superseded indictment.

Hang 'em high!

The Supreme Court narrowed it to require documents, which is why so many of the changes in the superseding indictment include an emphasis on the fact that the certificates are documents.

Right...thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for the breakdown AG! And thank you Jack Smith! This is timely as this gets tfg's actions on Jan 6 back into the public eye just weeks before the first debate, that is if his bone spurs don't flare up. Hoping he'll need to pay $ to defense attorneys, so less money for attack ads and spreading lies.
