33 of the 34 developed counties in the world know that medical care is a human right, not a privilege. 33 of the 34 developed counties in the world provide health care for ALL of their citizens using federal funds and have cut out insurance middlemen who provide no benefits. Don't tell US citizens it's "socialized medicine" and it's evil. It works EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD.

Pretty sure no one wants 'risk takers' when it comes to healthcare provision

If #Elmo is serious, he should address the “elefante” in the room. Namely, our $35 Trillion USD in “published” public debt. The interest that we currently pay on that block of debt is more than we are currently paying out in Social Security. So, let’s pay off the nation’s “credit card”, bring that balance down to zero, and deposit the savings into the Social Security Trust Fund in order that our future generations can “risk” capital without the fear of ending up in the “poor” house or worse … Starving to death out in the winter cold.

That’s classic conservatism. Thanks! We need that back in the national dialogue.

There are still 10% of the #DEMs that are “fiscally conservative” if not “socially conservative”. That’s down from 22% during the #Clinton-admin.

A.G., whenEVER someone in relative power links healthcare to profit, the patients suffer. And as you point out, “free market” in this connection does not mean increased patient options in a price-competitive environment. It means profits for healthcare providers. Capitalism and healthcare/social services are deeply uneasy partners; we should be wary of anyone who decides they belong together in anything but a temporary relationship to achieve a specific, mutually beneficial goal.

Thanks for the love! I’m going to add “education” to my list of uneasy bedfellows of Capitalism.

Big push in my red state for

Medicare Advantage with

disinformation thrown in.

M/Advantage is private

health insurance and the

carriers all have different

premiums.

If/when Harris gets elected

plans you have to pay in

addition on M/Advantage

will be wrapped into regular

Medicare at much lower

Prices will go through the ROOOOOF with no regulations. Very scary thought!!

It's not the prices you need to worry about, it is what toxic practices unregulated big pharma will be allowed to pump into patients

One exampl: if big pharma - aka trump buddies - are no longer tied to tight regulations when they develop and manufacture and supply drugs, it'll be like Russian roulette. (pun intended). Trumps plans to quash free speech in the media, unless it's his media, will effectively mean feedback on dodgy drugs or practices will be unknown to the people making the choices. Actually forget about Russian roulette, it'll be more like a return to the Wild West

Well, that’s horrific.

I'm glad I had a good childhood, fun as a teenager and had a wonderful time being an adult - up till tfg entered the political arena. Being old is treacherous. I'm not Medicare age yet. Neither is my husband. We buy our insurance thru the ACA. We won't be able to afford it without ACA. Oh, well. I'm not useful to society anyway because I don't have kids and not going to be a baby caregiver (as per JD). So am I to stop living because I don't contribute? Who will tfg 's hinchmen do away with first ? Old people ? People of the same sex who happen to love each other ? POC ? People who have handicaps ? My cats ? I know I sound Looney. But it's not like it hasn't happened before...

Kick the MAGAt republicans out. Jeffries will be speaker. Vote 💙Kamala and Tim.

IN the reality-based world, all we know is that they have “a concept of a plan” to “reform” the ACA. That should go well. 🙄

People care a lot about having health care, and once again, Republicans have "ideas" about how to "fix it".

We aren't stupid. We get that women's rights, immigrant rights, and the rights of people of color are all at stake. MAGA is flailing! Our votes for Harris are going to trounce Trump in the election. 💙

Do you have undecided or persuadable family or friends? I’ve put together an article featuring the reasons many high-profile conservative Republicans have given for why they cannot support Trump. I’ve gotten some great feedback from folks who’ve called it "incredible," "stunning," and "compelling." They've appreciated how easy it is to read and how clear the message is. My intent was for this to be a resource for all, so please share it far and wide! https://michaeltenbrink.substack.com/p/dont-take-my-word-for-ittake-theirs

Obamacare is popular with Republicans, just so long as it’s called the ACA. These guys seem to have no memory of the backlash from last time they made this suggestion. 100% guaranteed they have done no work at all on an actual alternative.

Project 2025 address all of this. The Trump / Heritage Foundation will fire 50,000 + employees, the people who make government agencies work. Trump will reinstate Schedule F to do this. Please read the sections on Medicare, VA, social security and healthcare in general.

The Substack ‘How Project 2025 Will Ruin Your Life’ is excellent in breaking it down. Project 2025 is about how Christian’s Nationalists, Speaker Mike Johnson is neck deep in the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, will gut government and replace the ‘pencil pushers, with CN /Trump loyalists.

Don't you mean REPEAL rather than APPEAL? We live in Canada but our daughter's scoliosis operation in 1993 and my wife's brain surgery in 2010 would have crippled us if we didn't have Universal Healthcare. It's astonishing that so many people in the US vote against their own best interests. Something has to give.

I was just in the hospital for 3 days with pneumonia. Even with insurance, that I pay $850/month for (to cover my son and I), my out of pocket was just under $10,000. Looking at the bill, they charged me $135 per pill for a probiotic (Culturelle) I can buy at the store for $15 for a 30 day supply just as an example. Imagine the rest of the bill, which is 5 pages long.
