The SCOTUS no longer has integrity. They are bought and paid for. Their reversal of Roe v Wade is repayment for Trump nominating more than he should have and their decision on Citizens United has made our elections a for-profit endeavor. The SCOTUS is Fair and Balanced like Faux News is. They are complicit and are responsible for the actions of a despot granted immunity for "official" acts. The SCOTUS is complicit in what is taking place, especially Roberts, Thomas and Alito. If there is an election in 2026, we need to organize and take back all of Congress so that we can codify term limits and ethics standards for the SCOTUS, Roe v Wade and reverse Citizens United. TERM LIMITS and ETHICS STANDARDS for SCOTUS!

And what will the judges think when the first prisoner dies? Will they feel anything about their decision? Remorse? Regret?

They are heartless.

Edit: The Bulwark has weighed in with a video. Some good news about due process and some hope about bringing them all back one day.

“Sam Stein and Ryan Goodman discuss the Supreme Court ruling on Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act and its implications for due process rights.”

After he was appointed Chief Injustice, Roberts said he wanted to give corporations more power in the government. According to Mussolini, that is a major tenet of fascism. We are seeing our government turn to fascism with the blessing of the Republican Injustices on the Supreme Court.

Thanks, Steve, for that but of info about Mussolini. Indeed - this is a “corporatized” court. They don’t CARE.

This is effing frightening. A clear violation of due process. Those justices who swore an oath to uphold Our Constitution just violated their oath.

Not the first time, but a direct slap in the face of due process which appears in the Constitution- twice!

No one is safe. The cultural civil war started years ago, when rump imposes martial law, there will be war. Americans will not accept a military state run by a fascist rapist insurrectionist felon dictator. True Americans fighting for Our Constitution need to appeal to our allies. I sure hope Democrats are doing that - now.

I hope governors in blue states use their state’s National Guard to secure state borders. And kick maga out. Glad I’m from a blue state. There is no coming back from this. The whole world is watching.

all of the men on SCROTUS need to be impeached, removed and tried for treason, and then deported to El Salvador to do hard labor until they fall over dead. They are vile criminals.

Thank you, Allison, for your clear, concise and, frankly, blunt analysis. It certainly puts into perspective the arrogance and partisanship of the men on the Court. The fact that they did not backstop Justice Boasberg says much about who they are and where they owe their allegiance - it certainly is not the to Constitution.

This shocks no one! They are part of the implementation of project 2025

And again while in power with Biden the democrats had an opportunity to go on the offensive, by stacking the courts!

But again chooses to stay on the side line and do nothing!!

So here we are!!!

I agree that the Supreme Court contains a majority of Justices who very much appear to be supportive of Project 2025. And of course we are here because of their Immunity ruling last summer, which was by design. You can blame Mitch McConnell for the Supreme Court. — However, here are some facts regarding appointments made under the Biden Admin: In terms of Article III 235 judges were appointed, including 1 Associate Justice of The Supreme Court (there was only one opportunity to appoint a Supreme Court Justice under Biden’s term), 45 judges for U.S. Courts of Appeals, 187 judges for the U.S. District Courts, 2 judges for the U.S. Court of International Trade. And under Article 1 Courts, Biden appointed 17 judges which included 5 to U.S. Court of Federal Claims, 5 to U.S. Court of Military Commissions Review, 1 to U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, 6 to U.S. Tax Court. And Biden appointed 1 judge on Article IV Territorial Courts.

I agree you can definitely blame McConnell but he was on the side of the republicans and part of their master plan.

So to counter their moves Biden had a chance to at least, attempt to stack the courts knowing this is exactly where this modern day supreme court was headed!!

Although nine Justices have been the norm lately ! There is no limit on the number of justices that can be on the bench of the Supreme Courts.

Sitting on the side lines from many on the democrat ‘s side is why we are where we are.

This brazen move from the republicans is a plan that was concocted over years!! And still there was no counter punch by the democrat ‘s leadership

Appreciate what I believe you are clarifying about your first comment of “stacking the courts” - that being aimed at one court: The Supreme Court.

(For clearly there were hundreds of judges appointed while Biden was in office.)

On that point, I agree with you 100%. Your point that there is no rule as the number of Supreme Court Justices is well taken and correct. And Biden had one chance during the first part of his term, from when he was inaugurated in Jan 2021 to Jan 2023 after the Dems lost the House in the 2022 midterms since you only need a simple majority to change the number of justices. So, I think he could have changed the number. But then there is the matter of confirming any such nominees. Remember that McConnell made it such that there had to be a 60 count to confirm a nominee and the Dems had a 50/50 split with Harris as the tiebreaker. They most likely would not have gotten 9 Repubs to confirm the number of Justices to then tip the balance of the Supreme Court away from their “Conservative” high court.

For his part, Biden did have a bi-partisan commission to review that matter. There was some agreement that terms limits for Justices should be considered but there was not the same consensus for adding Justices. — The irony is that their concern was that changing the 152 year tradition of only having 9 Justices could possibly make democracy regress in the future. She in fact, by NOT changing that 152 year precedent, democracy IS regressing. —— But, to be candid, I believe that Biden saw that the attempt to gain more seats the Supreme Court would have been an uphill battle that was less likely to yield getting confirmations and it would detract from all the other matters he wanted to get done for the country. He knew McConnell would hold up as many confirmations as he could for as long as it would take regardless of the Dems changed the number of Justices.

Yes, just think if Biden would have gotten the Supreme Court expanded but then none of his nominations confirmed! Then Trump could potentially have been able to add MORE extremists. I'm sure they weighed so many options in that bipartisan commission along with potential resulting dilemmas.

The one problem the democrats have is they have poor messaging and appear very soft!!

If Biden as the leader of the party, at least in my opinion tried to expand the courts it would’ve shown he was trying to counter what the republicans were doing. Something like this would’ve been on the national stage!!

I think It would’ve went a long way in many people’s minds!! Even if it didn’t work. It would have given the appearance that he was truly fighting for the rights of the most vulnerable of this country

And just maybe it would’ve lighten the soft tag the democrats are saddled with!!

Which in turn may have gotten more people out to vote in the democrats favor!!

honestly though it’s all water under the bridge we can would’ve, could’ve all day 😊
