Chutkan will brook no nonsense from Todd Blanche. This case, albeit without juicy details, will be in the headlines throughout the course of the campaign.

Judge Chutkan needs to have extra security assigned to her soon.

So the Donold is going to be on trial for election fraud and conspiracy to overthrow the government while running for president again?

Yup. Playing chicken with the legal and yearly calendars. As always. It remains a mystery to me how any lawyer could be willing to take Trump on as a client. He will only lead that lawyer to embarrassment and possible sanctions. He will micromanage the case, demand endlessly stupid arguments that would make any sane attorney blush were that lawyer not too financially under the gun or thinking representing Trump will somehow lead to a choice job. But Blanche, whose scowl should be copyrighted is in for more shame and punishment.

Frankly, none of us should be smugly arguing that Lawyer Blanche is in for more pain:

1) He is handsomely paid and had the savvy to get it upfront;

2) Win or lose: he has big money from this case;

3) He couldn’t care less if Trump leads him around through the nose: he knew already from watching other lawyers for Trump when hired what he was in for and unlike several other lawyers for Trump, Blanche even came back for more after the case was on hold pending the immunity arguments & Supreme Court rulings;

4) If Blanche espouses bizarre Trump-thought up positions, Blanche has a reasonable chance of the Supreme Court ruling his way.

We disagree. Be well.

I am not admiring him, but stating my belief that he will be smug himself and pleased enough with his choice of client.

And in the meantime. will be thankful for Judge Chutkan. If the Supreme Court ultimately reverses her work, I am sure it will be a tragedy and travesty.

I am a lawyer and of course understand the concept that even guilty people are entitled to lawyers. But as to myself, I could never / would never represent Trump for any amount of money.

I retract my earlier reply. We agree - this is the kind of client that will ruin a lawyer's life.

Money. And power. Little do these assholes know that this is blood money

Given Trump’s history of not paying his lawyers, and throwing them under the bus, it truly amazes that any lawyer would agree to do any work for him.

YES! I saw that this morning. Glenn Kirschnen had a YouTube video about it.

Thank you for this up to the minute news. So grateful for Judge Chutkan as she will not bow down to don.

Thank you! Very helpful.

Read Trump counsel letter to NY Merchen complaining that Kamala was picking on him by calling him a felon. Call the chaplain!

AG: Appreciate the quick review of the quick action by Judge Chutkan.

There will be more grousing from Trump on the campaign trail which is always a good look.

But will he wear a bandage? And does he remember which ear? He doesn't remember which foot had bone spurs ...

Will this decision have any impact on the classified documents case against Trump in FL assuming Jack appeals Cannon’s dismissal?

Expand full comment

Jack is definitely appealing Cannons dismissal

Expand full comment

That is nearly an open-and-shut case based on the documentary evidence, whether paper or video tape. There are also witnesses willing to testify. And he was not President at the time so these charges do not have the privilege or immunity as official acts.

All four of his cases are ipso facto cases, and three of them carry life sentences

“Jack” 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks so much for doing these, Allison. As a lawyer who has followed the case closely as well, I can say that you have hit everything that needed to be covered, and they are beautifully and clearly written.

TY, great news and great explanation.

Judge Chutkan is a legitimate judge 👩🏾‍⚖️. Unlike the disgrace from Florida & a few others who like to visit Russia & take gifts from a Nazi memorabilia collector 😒

Thanks for the explanation. So if the convicted felon was to use the same “Mr Smith is unlawfully appointed” argument vis a vis Thomas/Cannon to dismiss this case, Chutkan will tell him he’s full of 💩 and deny it and he can’t take an interlocutory appeal on that?

Expand full comment

No because the law does not require Congressional approval of Smith's appointment. There are 2 avenues and Garland chose the first because it shields the DoJ from the appearance that the special prosecutor's pursuit of prosecution is politically motivated, thus is held separate from conflict of interest. Except, of course, according to Trump.
