If I’m reading between the lines. Jack Smiths confidence in this case going forward is glaring me right in the face. It seems to me he seems confident that Trump will stand trial. That’s good news for Democracy and the rule of law.
Judge Merchan's decision to delay sentencing denied Trump the ability to fabricate another grifting circus. Trump wanted to be sentenced. He wanted to play the martyr and cry, shout and whine about being a victim. Not going to work this time!
That's why this "isn't it past your jail time?" shirt will NEVER get old 👇🤣
The integrity of the case as it moves toward trial is the most important aspect, the arguement on ability to seat an impartial jury if too too much is revealed could be used by the defense, we've already been shown the lack of impartiality by SCOTUS in their recent rulings. I do wonder how Justice ACB feels about the GOP candidates putting targets on two of her children, who are Haitian, one would think she would speak out in their defense. Vote 💙
More and more are being ingrained in Coney Barrett's brain, and none is helpful to tRump. I maintain that she will surprise us with future votes/opinions in re: tRump.
Outstanding analysis and summary and even though we'd all love to see some of the exhibits and transcripts I agree that it's very unlikely that we'll see them any time soon.
I cannot help but be deeply impressed with how Jack Smith is handling the Supremes' nakedly-partisan and wrong ruling—by making CERTAIN everything he accuses Trump and his minions of cannot reasonably be argued to be remotely within the duties of the President, so when he finally gets to take his case to trial Trump's lawyers won't have a legal leg to stand on, and Donald Trump will be nothing but a rightless felon awaiting The State's harsh justice.
Was it remotely reasonable for the SC to rule corporations have free speech rights equal to citizens, or that the 2A’s reference to militias was gratuitous, or that presidents are granted immunity by the Constitution? Do not assume that our definition of what is reasonable or textual will survive the scrutiny of this partisan test…”is it good for the Heritage Foundation?”
Trump v. US will go down in history as one of SCOTUS's worst decisions. And there have been some doosies in the 235 years they've been around. Think of this as John Robert's Dred Scott. It will be remembered and reviled.
I may be dreaming but somehow I think after this election it’s going to be more likely he will be “fully rewarded” with more severe sentences free of “it’s all political…they are really after you!” The MAGA-Locos will be hiding under their desks as if an earthquake is rumbling real close.
He needs to turn around and charge him for the shitstorm he’s stirred up in Springfield, OH. Those people don’t deserve this and he and his feckless running mate should have put a stop to it ages ago. Almost makes me fear JD more than Trump. He knows better and he’s doing it anyway.
I hope the people of Ohio remember this. I know some Trump people are too far gone, but look how carelessly they say things that turn their looniest supporters on you. And imagine him being influential in a justice department that looks the other way. I don’t think the media is making a big enough deal out of this.
Good arguments. The Extremes seemed to have basically waffled with its set up of "core immunity," "qualified immunity," and private action with no immunity. But the superseding indictment seems to fit into this scheme pretty well.
The immunity decision seems to have set up Chutkan as a trier of fact on issues like "acting like a candidate" vs "acting as a president." Do you think that if she goes with that, the resulting appeal will overlook the "trier of fact" role and just decide he was in all of this acting as president? If so, so much for the whole structure of the roles of trial vs appellate court.
For how horrific all of T's behavior is -- as well as his minions -- it is a profound lesson how our government and Constitution work! Thank you for lighting the path for us!
Jack knows wtf he’s doing!! He wasn’t just born Today he’s been doing this for years DonOLD is Going Down For His Actions End Of Story! I cannot wait 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Everything I know about the law I learned from Law & Order, just so you know my legal background...
Couldn't/wouldn't defense just argue that he was still president at the time, since if there were any national security emergency, donOLD would STILL be the one in charge?
Yes, I get that part. But couldn't the defense argue that "he was still president" (barely or not)? And is that something that this SCOTUS might take seriously?

Unless Scultus gets involved to protect their legitimacy
Sadly, I have to agree with you. If this gets anywhere near trial SCOTUS will stop it.
Yes they will. They are about to go through some things

MAGAs can't play the victim card up through election day!

I didn’t think about that but I’m sure that’s ingrained in Barret’s mind.

Yup it’s soon becoming 4 women against 5 men on Scultus

Yup he just keeps hammering them and he isnt done because the trumpette Will be running to Scultus by the end of Sept.

One lives in hope.
And hope is the Mamá of Joy.

The reprobate has gone full-on "Central Park Five" vs the Haitian community in Springfield, in fact way beyond a one-page ad in the Times.

Well bomb threats affect both parties. So when the GQP have to keep kids home…..
Yes him and Vance need sued. I’m surprised the ACLU? is they the one or some rights group needs to sue.
Thanks AG!
I’m sure you’re right- Jack will protect his witnesses, as will J Caitlin.
So exhausting…but out here we have one job, electing Harris/Walz, so that Jack Smith can finish his job and put this criminal in jail.
So, now that it has been reported that Trump has admitted he "lost by a whisker," how does that affect these ongoing J6 cases?

Thank you AG. I'm going with
your opion evidence will
remain sealed.
Elect Harris - Walz, flip the
house, hold the Senate! Then
Jack Smith can really move
forward. The Dem Senate/
House are already working on
legislation for SCOTUS reform
and tough ethics.
Let's make sure we give them
the power to do what's best
to move forward, not
backwards.

He was in charge. Barely.
But he was acting in capacity as a candidate that day and he can’t get away from that.
Yes, I get that part. But couldn't the defense argue that "he was still president" (barely or not)? And is that something that this SCOTUS might take seriously?
I don’t think so. Because he was ‘acting’ as a
Candidate. Not acting president. But this Scultus who knows.
So Jack took out anything that was remotely acting in official Capacity and left anything that was acting as candidate.
Thank you!
…FUCK THIS PATHETIC COUNTRY
