Every federal judge in America knows this bullshit is wrong. Right now the problem is congress. The republicans have stopped doing their jobs and are violating their oathes.

Beautifully written! An eloquent reminder of how our democracy works and the terrible dangers the executive branch is endangering our American way of life.

Impeccable reasoning with a tone that delivers a vital message. I hope the administration’s remaining attorneys are able to explain its meaning to the “Executive”!

Allison, thank you for providing all of the legal information as it happens. More importantly, I truly appreciate and value your time and effort in your commentary and for providing a plain-language explanation for us.

and, good news that the courts (mostly) are standing strong!

It is ironic that Trump, who almost one hundred times has relied on the part of the Fifth Amendment allowing him to avoid self-incrimination, ignores the part that requires due process for ANY PERSON - not limited to citizens, but ANY PERSON. That is the epitome of privilege. His feeling of entitlement for himself is disgusting. It is what allows him to pursue greed for himself and his cronies.

That’s because he’s watched The Godfather one time too many times and thinks he’s a mafia boss. He’s not.

Thank you JUDGE!! We’ve been waiting for honesty and strong leadership voices for too long. I’m an 80 years old CITIZEN that wants to see this ugly descent into authoritarian facism to be defeated immediately. Thank you and please continue to be an honest mentor for the judiciary.

Thank you Ms. Gill for your service in support of 🇺🇸 freedoms.

Wishing you and all good Americans success from 🇨🇦:

- We’d prefer to not be in a trade war.

- We’d prefer to not have to hurt good 🇺🇸 folks with our boycotts.

- And we’d prefer not to face potential military conflict.

But unlike America, Canada has *never* started nor lost a war.

And it’s not going to happen this time either.

Elbows 🇨🇦 up!

If I could love this a thousand times, I would love this a thousand times. All my adult life I've been more than a little cynical about the "rule of law." Civil rights lawyers, public defenders, lawyers for outfits like the NAACP, the SPLC, and the ACLU (etc.) have done crucial work on behalf of "we the people," but at the same time high-priced lawyers from prestige firms have served the interests of the wealthy, the corporations, and the mostly conservative. So when judges with conservative credentials (who are also, of course, lawyers) decide in favor of democracy and "we the people," I take heart. And heart is desperately needed in these perilous times.

Outstanding! A ray of sunlight in these dark times. But there should be a comic book version with single-syllable words if the Executive is going to have any chance of understanding it.

Kristina, you don't see the "The Executive may succeed for a time in weakening the courts, but over time history will script the tragic gap between what was and all that might have been, and law in time will sign its epitaph." as a big f-off? I do.

It’s like watching a train wreck. You see the showdown coming and you see that SCOTUS and POTUS are on a rail. I pray for the best. If the 5th amendment is invalidated, I can no longer pledge allegiance to the United States of America. If the constitutional contract is breached our nation is dissolved. There’s nothing to pledge to.
