I find it sadly funny that "Trump" is said to make these goofy requests. It's apparent that he told his crack squad of soulless legal punks to just throw anything they could into the works to make life exasperating.

Scratch that; the legal whores told him that, for a price, they would gunk things up as best they could.

I notice the same thing.

The legal usage is that "defendant requests", and that makes sense. But I don't fully believe Trump even understands the legal arguments that Lauro & Branch are presenting on his behalf.

When I comment on this online, I tend to say:

"Team Trump asked the judge to..."

or:

"Team Trump moved to dismiss based on..."

That phrasing quiets my discomfort over crediting Trump with any of these legal theories, while still making it clear which side is arguing what. It feels cleaner or more accurate, or something.

The criminal defense lawyer(s) are acting on Trump's behalf and are bound by their professional ethics to act in Trump's interest, save when that would violate their duty of candor to the court. As Trump's (perhaps hired) agent(s) they speak in court to ensure Trump's rights are respected better than if he were to personally attempt to navigate both the law and courtroom procedure by himself.

The fact that Trump doesn't understand that his civil attorneys try to keep him out of court because he makes bad impressions on judges and juries and that he frequently self-incriminates in public speaking mean that he is ill-prepared to understand the tortured paragraphs which are trying to distract from the fact that it's a very strong case on the prosecution's side and Trump has neither alibi nor excuse. But so what? Trump has pled not guilty and it is up to "Trump" (i.e. his lawyer(s)) to argue that position to the court.

If Trump persuades "Trump" to break the law for Trump, then both Trump and "Trump" would be on the hook — that's just the nature of having agents/minions.

Thank you for the important information, and for providing it in detail. Trump is really reaching. He gets close to frivolous filings from time to time. It won’t happen here, but I keep waiting for him lawyers to get in trouble for ws ting the court’s time.

Thx for your explanation in laymans terms so we can understand all the real technical jarb in these answers by the judge. I believe this all shows tRumps discretion..and his absolute ignorance of not only what he did but what he's so stupidly capable of doing . He shouldn't be trusted with a WH key let alone nuclear secrets

You’re right Kimberly, Trump is a mobbed up, mewling wastrel! It’s hard to believe things will break in his favor when the facts are presented!

Not just that his "discovery" motion was well OTT, but that his lawyers actually saw it fit material to bring to the court! I mean, "frivolous and immaterial" doesn't half describe this rubbish, and shame on tRump's "legal" team for proferring such time-wasting nonsense.

But then again, time-wasting IS the "legal" strategy, and I suppose one can - barely - excuse the lawyers' insult to the proceedings; However, is there not a limit?

Number 1, he doesn't have any legal standing to dismiss these serious charges, and number 2, there is no fucking God. Grow up FFS. Trump broke laws that if a Democrat did that, people like you would be calling for their head on a poke. The hypocrisy and the double standard are apparently there to only benefit the GOP. Well, the GOP has lost all morality and those that still support this fascist are going to have a rude awakening someday soon.

Cueing Frank Wilhoit…..

Conservatism has only one premise to wit:

“There must be an inner group that makes the laws but is not bound by them, and an outer group that is bounded by laws but cannot participate in changing them”.

He doesn't have any _grounds_ to dismiss the charges. (At least according to most people's reading of Jack Smith's Doc 262.) Saying he doesn't have standing would mean he is an uninterested party which contradicts the fact that he's the sole defendant. "Standing" refers to Article III of the Constitution which says Federal courta are to hear real cases and controversies, so parties must show that there is a dispute, it is a federal case, and the court has power to make things actually better and not just in some philosophical sense.

Jack Smith seems to have a good understanding of the way the Supreme Court has radically changed the playing field and I think Trump's attorney is still playing catch-up. Trump is digging the hole that he's in deeper. In a recent speech he used the pronoun "we" to describe the Jan 6 rioters which is very much what one of the conspiracy charges is all about.

AG: As always an excellent analysis of today’s motions. It is unfortunate that in order to preserve all semblances of fairness to the defendant, they are allowed to spew nonsense ad nauseum and the Court has to take the time to respond thoughtfully and thoroughly. Hopefully this will all help prevent our corrupt and illegitimate Supreme Court from reversing this in favor of the monarch.

Most all of Trump's demands for these materials are just stall tactics. He knows that he bring the law, that Jack Smith's indictment is water tight, and he will most likely go to jail.

Thank you for the updates and looking forward to the day he has to be in court for more indictments and has to listen to verdicts against him and his cohorts in this 4(8) year process of wrong doing with regards to wanting to become King!
